I hope this demonstates that you do not always need an enormously expensive guitar to get a great sound.
Footnote: I have, in the meantime got my hands on an Epiphone Sheraton II Pro (Chinese built in 2016, pics to follow soon) which I prefer to my Gibson Les Paul Standard. Only thing is that there are notes not available to me high up on the neck on my Eppi but I still prefer it.
I fitted a Stetsbar Tremelo system in Gold plate to match the guitar and this has proven to be a perfect addition.
